The idea

What is Tawba?

We all slip. The best thing we can do when we fall is to turn back to Allah.

Tawba helps you hold yourself to account, record what you have fallen into, reminds you to repent from it, and lets you follow your journey in reducing it. It is inspired by the meaning of self-accounting.

  • A private notebook between you and yourself — no one else sees it.
  • Sourced religious content: every verse and every hadith carries its reference and grading.
  • You are only ever compared with yourself. No points, no ranking.

What the app gives you

Everything you need to hold yourself to account as you go — in one app that runs entirely on your device.

Log a slip in seconds

Pick the category, then the sin, then how many times. An entry carries a count, so "backbiting × 3" is one entry — the app makes no jurisprudential claim about how a sin is counted.

Know what you fell into, with its evidence

Every sin has a page: what it is, why it is forbidden, evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah, how to repent from it, how to avoid returning, and a fitting duʿāʾ — labelled as narrated in the Sunnah or not narrated in its wording.

Repentance for the day, week, and month

Review what you logged in the period, read Sayyid al-Istighfār, then declare your repentance. The app records only your own declaration — it claims no forgiveness and knows nothing of the unseen.

My Journey: statistics that notice, not judge

Most repeated, most improved, hardest week, daily average, and the share you repented from. Numbers for noticing yourself only — not a verdict on you, nor a comparison with anyone.

Local reminders before you sleep

A bedtime reminder at a time you choose, a weekly one (Friday by default), a monthly one, and a daily reflection question. All scheduled and fired locally — no push server involved.

Lock the app with your fingerprint

Turn on App Lock to require your device biometric or passcode on every open. Your OS does the verifying; the app only receives a pass or fail and never sees your biometric data.

Forgetting is a feature

"Forget older details" collapses old entries into per-day, per-category totals and deletes the detail. The shape of the journey survives; the permanent record of what you did does not.

Backups you control

Export your data to a file on your device and import it whenever you want. You decide where the file goes — it never leaves for a cloud on its own.

    Fell into something? Open the app, tap "I fell into a sin," and pick from 52 categorised sins — or add a custom one in your own words.

    Repent

    Repent right away, or ask for a reminder before bed. When you repent, the four conditions of repentance are shown — including returning people’s rights when the sin involved someone else.

    Follow

    My Journey shows what is improving and what still needs effort, and Today’s Goal suggests the one thing to try not to repeat today.

Eight categories, 52 sourced entries

Every entry is sourced. Nothing is attributed to the Prophet ﷺ without a source, every hadith carries its grading, and where scholars genuinely differ, the app says so explicitly in a "there is detail on this matter" note.

Privacy

Privacy here is not a promise on a page — it is a constraint in the build

Most apps promise privacy in a written policy. Tawba goes further: the release build has no internet permission at all, so it could not send your data anywhere even if it tried.

  • No account, no sign-in

    No name, email, or phone number is ever requested. The app has no idea who you are.

  • No server, no cloud

    Everything you record is written to a local database on your device alone.

  • No ads, no analytics

    There is no advertising SDK, no usage analytics, and no crash reporting inside the app.

  • Full control is already yours

    Delete today's entries, this week's, or everything, whenever you like. Deleting the app removes everything with it.

Limits

What Tawba deliberately does not do

Some of what we left out matters more than what we put in.

It issues no religious ruling

The app is a tool that helps you hold yourself to account. It is not a religious authority and not a substitute for asking qualified scholars about your own situation.

It never claims forgiveness

The "I have repented to Allah" button records your own declaration and nothing more. The app knows nothing of the unseen and guarantees no acceptance.

No points, streaks, or ranks

There is no game here. No score, no badges, no leaderboard — because holding yourself to account is not a competition.

It never compares you to anyone

Every number compares you with yourself in an earlier period. No other user exists in the equation at all.

FAQ

Questions people ask before downloading

Direct answers, no hedging.

Is Tawba free?

Yes, Tawba is completely free. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase, no ads, and no paid tier hiding features behind a wall.

Does the app need an internet connection?

No. Tawba works entirely offline. In fact, the release build published to the stores contains no internet permission at all, so it is technically incapable of contacting any server.

Where is my data stored, and who can see it?

Everything you record is stored in a local database on your device alone and is never sent to a server or a cloud. Nobody can see it — including us, because the data never reaches us in the first place.

Do I need to create an account?

No. No name, email, or phone number is requested at any stage. You open the app and start straight away.

Can I hide the app from other people?

Yes. In Settings, turn on App Lock to require your device biometric or passcode on every open. Verification happens in your operating system; the app only receives a pass or fail result and never sees your biometric data.

Is the religious content sourced?

Every verse and every hadith carries its reference, every hadith carries its grading, and every duʿāʾ is explicitly labelled as either narrated in the Sunnah or a general supplication not narrated in that wording. Even so, the app does not replace asking qualified scholars about your own circumstances.

Does the app judge me or give me a score?

No. There are no points, streaks, badges, or leaderboards. Statistics compare you only with yourself in an earlier period, and the wording says "times you fell into it" rather than passing a verdict on you.

Can I move my data to a new device?

Yes, via "Export backup" in Settings and then "Import" on the new device. The file leaves your device only by your own hand and to a destination you choose — pick one you trust.

What if I want to delete everything?

From Settings you can permanently delete today's entries, this week's, or the entire record, at any time and without asking anyone. Deleting the app itself removes everything with it.

Is the app available in Arabic and English?

Yes, the whole app is available in Arabic and English, including the religious content, and you can switch languages at any time from Settings.
